How do I request materials using the online catalog?

Check out this blog post to learn how to request materials online. You will need to have an active library account and 14-digit barcode to request materials.

How will I find books that interest me if I can't browse the shelves?
We'll be spotlighting our new materials in a variety of ways to let you know what we have on our shelves. Another great way to find suggestions is through NoveList Plus database, which you can access HERE through the Digital Maine Library collection of databases. Just search for your favorite books and NoveList will recommend similar titles to check out.

Can I borrow materials from other libraries?

Curbside will initially be restricted to Berwick Public Library materials only. As more libraries begin to open across the state, the ability to borrow materials from other libraries will return. 

If I have a card for another library, can I use their services, as well? What if that library is part of the Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program?
We kindly ask that you only use the services of your home library at this time, even if you are a cardholder at another library. The Maine Reciprocal Borrowing program is currently on hold. When the interlibrary loan service resumes, you will be able to borrow materials from other libraries again by making requests through the online catalog and picking them up at Berwick Public Library.

Can I get same day pick up for items I request?

Due to the high volume of returns and requests we expect at the start of this service, same day pick up will not be initially offered. 

How will I know when to pickup my materials?
A staff member will personally contact you to confirm your materials are ready pickup and provide you with pickup details. Pickup days will be Wednesdays and Saturdays. 

Are you accepting returns?
When curbside begins, you can start returning items in our outdoor return bin. Please remove items from bags before putting them in the bin. NOTE: Please expect a delay of 3 to 7 days for items to clear from your account once you have returned them. All items that are returned to the library must be quarantined before we check them in and re-shelve them. 

Will you take my donations?

Because of the quarantine process all items have to go through when they come into the library - and the amount of library space needed to keep those items in quarantine - we are only accepting limited donations at this time. Donations must be new (published between 2018-2020), in good condition, and approved by a staff member. Please do not put donations in the return bin or leave items outside the building. If you have items you'd like to donate, please contact a staff member.
