An exhibit of digital photographs by Eric Edmonds entitled “FLORA, near on” is on display at the library through the month of February.
Edmonds, a long-time resident of Berwick, is retired from the SAD 60 school system. In May of 2015, he bought a Nikon digital camera. “This signaled my first and tentative step into photography. I have taken a few basic courses since, but largely have stumbled about seeing what luck may furnish me,” he said in an artist’s statement.
He says he is drawn to near-point subjects, and then “manhandling” them in post production. “A purist I am not,” he added. “This show is my first. Its theme is things flora,...mostly flowers, but also other vegetation.”
These large, and some not so large, color photographs are all close-ups captured in greenhouses, gardens, and more natural environments as Edmonds found them.
The show continues through February during regular library hours. Stop by to view the photos anytime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 9:30am and 7:30pm and Fridays and Saturdays between 9:30am and 1:30pm. Photos on display are also available for purchase.
