Berwick author, artist, and musician Ross Alan Bachelder will be the featured artists at Berwick Public Library from September 12th through October 27th. The opening reception for the exhibit will be on Wednesday, September 26th from 6pm to 7:30pm. Refreshments will be served and, as always, the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The exhibit - Hop Scotch: A Playful Romp Through More Than 20 Years of Image Making - will feature 30 works in several media, including "Carl Guptill's Pump Car", the first painting Bachelder ever did, and "License to Work, License to Play", a found object assemblage that includes a drawing is daughter did at age 3 and a license plate the artist had on his bicycle as a 10-year-old. Bachelder has been active as an Arts Multiple in Seacoast New Hampshire and Southern Main - and elsewhere in northern New England - for more than 40 years. He has exhibited his multimedia artworks in many galleries, written extensively in many genres, and as a musician has performed solo recitals, played in musical theatre, and appeared at art exhibit openings, assisted living facilities and other special events as The Flute Guy.
Bachelder, the founder and coordinator of the KAA Seacoast Moderns, frequently travels to
chase the Arts. In 2011 he performed in New Zealand as The Flute Guy, and in November he'll be touring galleries in museum in Reykjavik, Paris, and Amsterdam. He's part of an exhibit - "Impressions" - at the Haley Art Gallery in Kittery through October 27. In 2016, Bachelder published his first book, Happy Dawg Walks the Sad Man: The Remarkably Varied Adventures of a Confirmed Arts Multiple. He's now working on his second book - a collection of 12 short stories entitled Weird Anomalies: Tales Best Read in the Twilight Hours, scheduled for publication in 2019.
