When our staff members were in the woods, they heard a strange sound coming from the nearby Penny Pond. Mermaids have been known to slap the water with their tails. But, then again, so do beavers. What could it have been that made the noise?
Come to library on Friday, July 10th at 10:30am to learn more about the animals that live in the ocean! Seacoast Science Center will be visiting with their 25-foot inflatable whale, Katahdin!
Complete the puzzle below to figure out what creature made the sound. And be sure to stop by the library to investigate the footprint in person, examine Elizabeth's field journal to learn about mermaids, and complete a different puzzle.

What did you learn from that puzzle? Was it a mermaid that made the sound our staff members heard coming from the water? Check in with a staff member at the library to let them know the results of your investigation and to receive a sticker to keep in the field guide section of your tracker form. And be sure to try the in-person activity we have available, too!
Don't forget - we'll have new activities available every week, both in the library and on our website. Past activities will remain available throughout the duration of the summer reading program, so, if you miss a week, you can easily catch up!
