Many of us have experienced the thrill of scoring a great find at a resale store – the Berwick Library Association (BLA) is experiencing a similar thrill after receiving word from The Fabulous Find that they have been selected as one of their April grant recipients. The Fabulous Find, a 501c3 non-profit organization, is a beautifully merchandized, boutique-style resale shop at 139 State Rd (Route One) in Kittery. They partner with different worthy, local non-profit organizations each month. For the month of April, the BLA will be sharing the profit from sales at the store with two other library associations – Lee Library Community Center Foundation and Friends of the Wells Public Library.
The BLA is extremely grateful for this future gift from The Fabulous Find, and could not help but feel that this grant was also a gift from their dear friend and former president, Paula Lepore, who passed away in 2022. Paula was devoted in her efforts to raise funds for the library to help maintain the building and its contents so it can continue to be a vibrant and dynamic place where the community engages in personal enrichment. The association believes that she submitted the application to The Fabulous Find about two years ago in hopes that they could help support the association’s efforts to assist the library in carrying out its mission. Unfortunately, she did not get to see the fruits of her labor. The association’s current members are grateful to use this gift from The Fabulous Find to continue Paula’s legacy of caring for our library community by helping to provide them with free access to information that promotes and inspires their educational, recreational, and cultural interests.
To maximize the funds that the BLA receives, they need the help of our community to donate goods to the resale store and to shop other donated items over the upcoming month. The store graciously welcomes better quality clothing, accessories, and footwear; accent furniture and housewares; DVDs and books; table linens and quilts; and artwork and home décor. If in doubt about your donation, please call the store at 207-439-8669. We hope that you will consider donating some items that you may be clearing out in your spring cleaning. Sales from your items and purchases of other donated items will help support the BLA’s efforts to maintain an important and necessary resource for our community, and hopefully expand the building in the future to facilitate the construction of a community gathering space and provide accessibility improvements.
