Support Your Library!

We need your support!

If you're a registered Berwick voter, be sure to vote "YES" on June 12th on Article 33 in favor of the library's budget.

A "YES" vote will increase our budget by $5,000. With this additional funding, we will be able to:

  • improve outdated technology in the library

  • offer more programs and author talks

  • increase STEM programs

  • offer new early literacy initiatives

In the past year, our small library has been able to offer 192 special programs, clubs, and activities to our community. These programs offer something for everyone and include musical presentations, author visits, historical talks, and book discussions. Some of our most popular programs and activities over the past year include:

  • Weekly Lego Club featuring STEM-based challenges. Past challenges include erupting volcanoes, marshmallow catapults, and floating boats.

  • Author talk with J. Dennis Robinson on his book Mystery on the Isles of Shoals about the Smuttynose Island murders.

  • Nocturnal animals presentation with the Center for Wildlife.

  • Monthly visits from Reader Dogs. Both dogs are humane education ambassadors for Cocheco Valley Humane Society and offer young readers a chance to practice their reading skills with a friendly audience.

  • Weekly storytime featuring singing, dancing, and crafts.

  • Musical performance "A Walk Through the Delta Blues" with Mike "Bullfrog" Rogers and "Poor Howard" Stith.

  • Monthly robotics club featuring Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits.

  • "Let's Talk About It" 5-part book discussion series about the American Revolutionary Generation offered in partnership with the Maine State Library.

  • A Maker Day featuring community members that offered patrons a chance to try their hands at robotics, coding, problem-solving, and crafting.

  • Historical presentation with David Ramsay about the USS Squalus rescue.

  • And many more!

This past December, we asked you - our patrons - to tell us why you love your library. At the end of the month, we compiled the responses and generated a word cloud with the most frequently used words appearing in larger fonts.

It's clear that our patrons know we are more than just a place to check out books, we are an organization focused on community. With your support on voting day, we can provide even more community programs in the coming year.

Thank you for supporting your library!
