Join the BPL Summer Reading Program

This summer, students entering grades K through 12 are invited to take part in the "Libraries Rock" Summer Reading Program at Berwick Public Library! We have a lot of exciting things planned, and we hope you'll be part of them!

Early-registration begins Saturday, June 19th with our official kick-off of the Summer Reading Program happening the following Saturday, June 23rd, with a special performance by juggler Bryson Lang.

When you register, you'll receive an information packet containing all the program dates for our summer events, as well as reading logs you can use to track the books you read and earn prizes.

For students entering grades K through 3, the Free Masons of the St. John's Lodge No. 51 have once again generously donated 8 new bicycles. Students will earn one entry for a chance to win for every five books they read. We will be drawing two winners per grade - one boy and one girl - during our wrap party on Saturday, August 11th.

Students entering grades 4 through 12 will earn a free all-day pass to the Rye Airfield Skate and Bike Park for every five books they complete. Younger participants are able to earn passes, as well, if they are interested.

In addition to our Summer Reading program, we will also be holding an art contest open to students entering grades K through 12. Participants can use any medium of their choosing - paint, photography, markers, collage, sculpture, etc. - to create a piece of art depicting the theme books and reading. All participants should also include a short (1 paragraph) write-up about their artwork including their name, what grade they are entering in the fall, and what their inspiration was for their creation. Artwork may be submitted starting July 3rd and must be received no later than 7:30pm on August 1st in order to be part of the contest. Winners will be announced Saturday, August 11th in three age groups - K thru 3rd grade, 4th-7th, and 8th-12th.

Beyond our reading program and art contest, we have a full calendar of programs planned! All programs are free to attend. Check out all the great things we have coming up!
