The father/daughter duo of Morenike and her dad cover a variety of topics that children are curious about. The upbeat six-year-old has a knack for teaching, and hosts each episode. The episodes are around 17 minutes and cover a specific topic that Morenike is curious about. Using real life examples from Morenike’s day, listeners can relate to the little girl. Morenike is curious about many things that the listeners interact with on a daily basis, such as: litter on the beach, the internet, and emotional smartness.

Having six-year-old Morenike be the host of the podcast makes it much more appealing to younger listeners. After listening to adults all day in school, at home, and out in public, hearing a fellow child in a podcast is a welcome change. Morenike learns alongside the listener about the topics, and then goes on to explain it further in her own words. At the end of every episode, Morenike asks her listeners what they are curious about. There are usually five different children who introduce themselves, tell the listeners where they are from, and what they are curious about. This can be engaging for children as they can think about what they would want to say to Morenike, seeing as other listeners can send her their ideas!

Podcasts are a great way to get children interested in a topic or to further their knowledge about a particular topic. The format is incredibly versatile, and can be listened to while in the car, doing chores, or on a walk. For children who are hesitant readers, or those who simply want to give their eyeballs a break, Curious Morenike is a great solution. The podcast’s mission is to inspire young people to use their kid curiosity to think critically and creatively to make the world a better place.
