An Interactive Adventure

Prologue - The Quest Begins

For those of you who participated in last year's summer reading adventure, you'll already be familiar with the Librarian of Berwickia. For those who haven't already experienced that adventure, you can learn more about "The Broken Blade of Berwickia" HERE or by borrowing "The Broken Blade of Berwickia"
interactive book from the library.

With the Blade of Berwickia restored, the library has become a popular place for travelers from across the land to visit. Unfortunately, the artifacts in the building aren't used to being handled by so many visitors, and they are becoming increasingly fragile day by day.

Every object in the library has an important story to be told, often by those who weren't able to tell it themselves at the time. Following in the footsteps of the Librarians who came before them, the Librarian of Berwickia is dedicated to preserving these stories for future generations.

The Librarian needs to brew a Preservation Potion to protect all the items in their care at the library, but to complete the potion they need to collect essences from various items throughout American history. The Librarian doesn't have time to collect the essences themselves and hopes you'll be willing to help Berwickia once again.

Can you help collect the seven essences from throughout
time and brew the Preservation Potion?

How to Play:

We'll be adventuring through time over the course of the summer reading program. Your mission is to collect the essence of one object from each time period, return the essences to the Librarian of Berwickia, and brew the Preservation Potion.

Playing along is easy! Each Friday, we'll share a new activity/puzzle you'll need to complete in order to acquire the essence. When you've completed the activity or puzzle, you'll receive a sticker to add to the Potion Tracker in your summer reading packet. The essence of each object is essential for brewing the potion, so you'll need to collect all the stickers in order to successfully complete your mission through time.

Activities/puzzles will be available both at the library and on our website. It's up to you if you'd rather solve puzzles at home, complete in-person activities at the library, or do a mix of both. The storyline will be the same no matter which option you choose, although the activities/puzzles themselves may be different.

Did you miss a week? No problem - past activities/puzzles will always be available on the website and at the library.

All ages are welcome to participate, although younger children will likely need the assistance of an adult to complete some of the puzzles.

Enjoy the adventure!
