Road Trip Week 3: "I Have a Dream" Mobile
As we virtually visit the southern part of the country this week, we wanted to do a special activity to recognize the many important moments in the fight for Civil Rights that happened in these states. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and his iconic speech, we made "I Have a Dream" mobiles.
Check out the mobile Shilo made:
Shilo shared two possible methods for this activity, but you are free to come up with your own! If you'd rather make a drawing than a mobile, that's fine, too!
What dreams do you have for a better world?
If you complete this activity, we'd love to see your creation and hear your dreams. Be sure to share them with us on our Facebook page!
If you've never heard Martin Luther King, Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech in full - or just want some inspiration for your mobile - you can listen to it here:
This is a great opportunity to have a discussion with children about race. Pictures are a great tool - Shilo shared the video below earlier in the year recommending some books from our collection. We've added even more titles to our shelves since this was filmed.
