Chapter 7
The Fairy Ring Forest
Night has fallen by the time you reach The Fairy Ring Forest. Armed with your firefly lantern
and compass, you start your trek through the dark forest and notice a red flickering glow coming through the trees in the distance. You carefully creep closer and are surprised to discover the glow is fire from a group of dragons!
Nearby, you notice a mage tending a nest of dragon eggs. The mage introduces herself as Andromeda and explains that the eggs should have hatched days ago and she’s starting to get concerned. “I don’t know what’s wrong. Maybe they’re too cold?” she wonders.
Suddenly, you hear a chorus of little voices saying, “We can tell you what’s wrong!” It’s the baby dragons! With Gen the cat near you, you can understand the dragons, even though they’re still in their eggs!
Andromeda, seeing an opportunity, proposes an idea. “I have heard of a blade shard in The Fairy Ring Forest, but I’m simply too busy trying to get these eggs to hatch to find it. Tell you what, if you get them to hatch for me, I’ll get the piece for you!”
The dragons will only hatch if you can solve their riddles!
After solving the three riddles, the mischievous dragons burst out of their eggs. Giggling amongst each other, they congratulate you on your success.
“Finally! I thought they’d never come out,” Andromeda grumbles. “All right, you three,”
she points to the baby dragons. “Stay PUT. I’ll go fetch that blade piece for our
adventurer here.”
You entertain the hatchlings while Andromeda marches into the Fairy Ring Forest,
and soon enough, she comes out with a piece of the blade!
“This belongs to you now,” she says. “To thank you for your help, I give you a crystal of dragon fire. You’ll need something to power that forge when you re-form the blade! Best of luck to you on
your adventure!”
